My Own Meals, Inc. offers a fully-assembled, 1200 calorie ration comprised of a main course meal in a long-life pouch, assembled with brand-name, off-the-shelf accompaniments. Each complete ration has the nutrients required to sustain an active soldier, firefighter, emergency responder, or other highly-stressed individual. These nutritional standards are issued by the US Surgeon General. While the My Own Meal® main course meals in 227g foil pouches have a shelf life of many years, the fully assembled rations do not. The MREs and rations are not designed for storage but rather for use within no more than one year.

MRE's (Meals, Ready-To-Eat) , Rations, Emergency Responders, and Humanitarian Relief
My Own Meals, Inc. created My Own Meal® MREs for, and continues to supply to the Department of Defense, kosher rations to meet government needs. Unlike non-kosher MREs which are produced and then stored for about three or more years before being sent to our men and women in the armed services to eat in the field, My Own Meal® kosher rations are assembled and shipped to sailors, soldiers, airmen / women, marines, and emergency responders to enjoy right away. We maintain a ready-to-ship inventory for immediate response to reduce the need and taxpayer costs for long-term government storage inventories.

C. Best Used By Date – reading a lot code:
Every case of kosher military rations has two codes printed on the side of the Master Case. The first code is the production date. The production date is the date the full ration was assembled. It reads as: "PACK DATE: DD MONTH YEAR". The "DD" means the day of the month it was packed. "MONTH" is the month it was packed and "YEAR" is the year of the pack.

The second code is the Best Used By date. It is coded as "BEST BY MONTH YEAR". This month and year is the date by which we recommend consuming the ration. While some of the components inside the master case may have a later Best By date printed on its packaging, including the My Own Meal® main course meals, we use the earliest Best Used By date for any one of the components inside that case as the "Best By" date for the entire assembled ration.

D. Special military ration assembly.
